Taylor Head Provincial Park

Taylor Head Park occupies a rugged windswept peninsula that juts 6 km into the Atlantic Ocean. The park's hiking trails and walks provide access to a variety of natural habitat, interesting geological features, and wildlife species, scenic look-offs secluded beaches and 16 km (10 mi.) of unspoiled coastline.The park is in Spry Bay on Highway #7, 100Km east of Halifax and 11Km west of Sheet Harbour.  It is a peninsular park jutting out into the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and has walking paths, hiking trails and a stunning white sand beach.  There are more than 18 Kms of walking possible in this park with fantastic area for having a picnic - sitting on the cliffs above the ocean at the furthest point will take your breath away!  There are outhouses, not flush toilets, available, picnic tables, change houses and an interpretive kiosk.  For the avid hikers there are five distinct hikes: Beachwalk Trail, The Spry Bay Trail, The Headland Trail, The Bull Beach Trail and the Bob Bluff Trail.  Enjoy the boardwalks and their renowned dunes. Let the trails, keep you hiking for the whole day. Michael Haynes, the well-known author, rates this park as "one of the best" in the province for hiking and also casual walking.There are no campsites available right at Taylor Head Provincial Park, but there is a campground called Spry Bay Campgrounds & Cabins very close by.Photos and information provided by N.S.
